Aug 17, 2020

The SEES Group is excited to announce the addition of Dr. Matthew Hartman to the Nashville area. Dr. Matthew Hartman specializes in cataract, cornea, external disease, and refractive surgery, as well as advanced lens technology to correct astigmatism and presbyopia with cataract surgery. He also has experience performing cornea transplantation surgery, including DSEK/DMEK, and ocular surface reconstruction.

After graduating Summa Cum Laude with a B.A in Chemistry from Southern Adventist University in Chattanooga TN, he completed his M.D. degree at Loma Linda University in California, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society in recognition for excellence achieved as a medical student. Following medical school, he completed his internship and ophthalmology residency at the University of Tennessee in Memphis. He went on to complete subspecialty training in cornea and external disease at the University of Colorado in Denver.

“In medical school, I chose to be an eye surgeon because I wanted to work with my hands and have a direct impact on a patient’s quality of life. As a cornea and cataract specialist, there are so many new technologies and procedures at my disposal to help improve sight, and I am so grateful to work each day with patients who allow me to help preserve and restore their vision,” Dr. Hartman shared.

Originally from Nashville, TN, Dr. Hartman is excited to return with his family to middle Tennessee to continue his wonderful career with The Sees Group. Dr. Hartman is a member of the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He has spent time abroad, including a year of humanitarian work in Peru, as well as time performing corneal transplants for underserved patients in the Dominican Republic. He loves spending time with his wife, Elisabeth, and their son, Maxwell.
