The SEES Group and VisionAmerica are excited to announce the addition of Shae W. Steward, M.D. to the Birmingham area. Dr. Shae Steward is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in cataract surgery.
Dr. Steward was born and raised an hour outside of the Birmingham area as one of five children. After graduating from Oxford High School, she completed her undergraduate degree at Auburn University graduating with Magna Cum Laude honors in Biomedical Sciences. She continued her education at University of South Alabama where she earned her Medical Degree. She is a Member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Steward then completed her Ophthalmology residency at University of Arkansas Medical Sciences where she completed her training in Comprehensive Ophthalmology. When asked why she chose Ophthalmology she states, “The eyes are responsible for your vision, your experience of the world, your independence and to have the knowledge and necessary skills to improve or preserve that ability provides me with great purpose.”
Dr. Steward is married with two young children. She enjoys spending her free time with her family at church, in the outdoors, hiking, reading, crafting, cooking, traveling, and watching Auburn football. Dr. Steward is excited to be back to her home state and is looking forward to serving the community.
